Temescal Trio
John Burke studied piano with Irwin Freundlich in New York and later took part in the Bay Area jazz scene in the early 60's, performing with Pharaoh Sanders, Sonny Simmons, Ian Underwood and others. After a long interval, he returned to playing around 1990. He is a member of the piano trio I Gatti Freschi, performed with the Hoover Wind Quintet and the new-music group Schwungvoll, and has appeared as accompanist for singers Elspeth Franks and Sonia Gariaeff.Gemini Soul (Andrè Ajamu Akinyele - bass & programming; Jon O'Bergh - piano, keyboards & programming; Andrew Foster - percussion; and Alex Marks - drums) originating from the San Francisco bay area are known for their eclectic blend of jazz/funk fusion with an electronic element known as "Cyber Jazz." Karen Wells, musician and music educator, has been passing
on her skills to young musicians in the Bay Area for the past twenty
years. She teaches privately, and in the Berkeley Unified School
District, including directing the Berkeley High School Band and
Orchestra. Her playing credits include The Women's Philharmonic,
North Bay Opera, Sacramento Philharmonic, Cinnabar Theatre, Hoover
Wind Quintet, Berkeley Opera and Berkeley Symphony. Madeline Prager, Viola, has performed
extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, where she
lived for 25 years. After serving as principal violist of the Wuerttemberg
Chamber and the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestras, followed by 10
years as Professor of Viola at the Music Conservatory in Karlsruhe,
Germany, she returned to the Bay Area in 2000. She has been a recipient
of several performance awards, including a Hertz Memorial Performing
Arts Scholarship from UC Berkeley. Ms Prager has taught at the University
of the Pacific, The Crowden School, and performs as principal violist
with various orchestras including the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra,
the Pacific Chamber Symphony, the Berkeley Symphony, and the Stockton
Symphony. She performs regularly with Trio Concertino, the Temescal
Trio, the Sierra Chamber Society and has appeared with the New Pacific
Trio. Madeline Prager is an avid supporter of public education,
teaching music in the Berkeley Unified School District as well as
